Job description
eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.
Responsibilities:
As a Microwave Engineer (f/m/d), you will be part of a team with a mission to develop, set up and operate our trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices. You will collaborate closely with our international, interdisciplinary team of physicists and engineers. Depending on your level of experience, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:
Design concept and detailed design solutions for applying global and local microwave fields onto quantum processor microchips
Design and implement low level RF signal processing chain including signal generation, processing, and amplification
Develop testing strategies for microwave fields delivered by waveguides and antennas integrated within the ion trap quantum processor microchips
Conduct microwave field simulations for multiple near-field antenna and waveguide models, and optimize designs to fulfill manufacturing/fabrication requirements
Discuss technical requirement specifications with engineers, physicists and suppliers
Collaborate with mechanical design of ion traps regarding microwave field constraints
Job requirements
Required Skills:
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics or a related field
3+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering or R&D environment
Excellent understanding of the fundamentals of microwave and RF fields in cryogenic vacuum environment
Hands-on experience in detailed characterization of microwave systems
Experience with digital, analogue, and/or low noise electronics, as well as microwave signal transmission at cryogenic temperatures
Experience with the simulation of near fields and waveguides
Experienced in usage of COMSOL Multiphysics and its RF Module
Experience of FPGAs and real-time processing systems
Good communication and writing skills in English
We value:
PhD in electrical engineering, physics or related field with a focus on microwave engineering
