Job description
eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.
We are looking for an Optics and Laser Engineer (m/f/d) to join us as soon as possible.
Your Responsibilities:
As an Optics & Laser engineer (f/m/d), you will be part of a team with a mission to develop, set up and operate our trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices. You will collaborate closely with our international team of physicists and engineers from different disciplines. Depending on your qualification, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:
Define and refine the requirements for optical modulation in scalable quantum computers in collaboration with our ion trap operators
Identify & define specification requirements together with vendors and partners
Develop and test optical components and systems (including optical modulators)
Prepare test reports and communicate your results
Integrate modulation control in collaboration with our electronics and software teams
Contribute to shaping the processing of single photons, emitted by trapped ions.
Job requirements
Required Skills:
M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Optics Engineering, Physics, or a related field
Solid knowledge of electro-optical and acousto-optical modulation techniques
Experience with single-photon detectors
Familiarity with image processing
Understanding of signal processing principles
Strong communication and writing skills in English
We value (Bonus):
2+ years of demonstrated experience in industry or research, with an awareness of industry standards
Experience in real-time electronics and signal processing
Hands-on experience with laser systems for ion or atom traps
Not expected to code, but should understand technical concepts and communicate effectively with developers, familiarity with programming is a strong plus
Experience with laser spectroscopy and laser cooling techniques
